Arinze Nwokolo a doctoral student at the Univeristy of Navarrra presented yesterday his paper titled Does Political Instability affect Economic Growth and Financial Development? at a Workshop of the NCID. “It is important to realise that previous studies on this topic have not been conclusive!”, Arinze said emphatically. “This is not surprising” he added, “because it is not clear whether political violence and political instability indicators are correlated with economic development.”

The researcher Luis Alberiko Gil-Alaña of the Navarra Center for International Development spent last week –November 18-22 – at Strathmore Business School in Nairobi, Kenya. “They have launched a Financial Econometrics course, and Robert Mudida, that is the person in charge of this course, proposed me to give some lectures -about 10 hours- on the main topics on this issue,” explained Luis Alberiko. He also gave a Guest Lecture for senior students of the Economics degree on the concepts and ideas on Time Series Analysis.

Giovanni Mazzacani, 23, is young Italian who recently finished an internship at United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. He is studying a double degree on International Management at the Bocconi University, Milan, which included studying an academic year at the Fudan University in Shanghai.  Giovanni has spent three months working in the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which is an organ of the United Nations; in particular they work in development countries with a particular focus in Africa.
