The 8th NCID Research Workshop on Development Economics will take place on April 4th-5th, 2019 at Fundación Ramón Areces in Madrid, Spain. This year’s event will be devoted to the topic “Political Economy of Development”.
Keynote Speaker: Romain Wacziarg, Professor of Economics, since 2015 Hans Hufschmid Chair in Management at UCLA Anderson School of Management, and current Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. American economist and Ph.D. in Harvard, his research areas include international economics, development, and economic growth. Developed topics in his publications, Dr. Wacziarg is interested in what explains economic performance, causes and effects of the global spread of democracy over the last few decades, and how rooted features of societies affect their economic performance.
Other confirmed speakers: Julien Labonne, Associate Professor of Economics and Public Policy, Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford; Marta Reynal-Querol, ICREA Research Professor at the Department of Economics and Business at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and Director of the IPEG; Justin Sandefur, Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development; Rohini Somanathan, Professor of Economics at the Delhi School of Economics and Pedro Vicente, Associate Professor at Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Scientific Director at Novafrica.
There are no registration fees, but participants will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
