The Navarra Center for International Development (NCID) of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) has added three new development economics researchers for the 2020-2021 academic year. On one hand,Mirko Abbritti and Raúl Bajo-Buenestado join the team with shared dedication with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Navarra. Both were until now collaborators of the NCID. On the other hand, the research center adds to its ranks Tijan Bah, from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Mirko Abbritti has a PhD in Economics from The Graduate Institute (Geneva, Switzerland), and was Associate Professor in the Faculty of Economics of the University of Navarra from 2008 until 2019, when he left for the Universitá degli Studi di Perugia. Abbritti has had a close relationship with the NCID for years and published several papers at the center. His interests are focused on monetary policies, labor markets and the study of economic cycle analysis models.

Raúl Bajo-Buenestado has a PhD in Economics from Rice University (Houston, USA) and has been working since 2016 as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Economics of the University of Navarra. Since then he has been collaborating with the NCID, where he has published various researches in the areas of energy, environment, natural resources and industrial organization. His last study dealt with the reliability of the electrical connection in Kenya and its impact on the probability of having a refrigerator or television at home.

Tijan Bah has a PhD in Economics from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and the Université Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne. Bah focuses his research on the economics of migration from Africa to Europe. He is co-author of a study presented at the 1st NCID Workshop on Migration last November which analyzes people's motivation to migrate to Europe, a topic he will continue researching at the NCID.

Also, this new academic year we see the departure of junior researchers Iván Kim and José Manuel Cuevas, although both will continue their relationship with the research center as external collaborators. Iván Kim begins a PhD in Economics at the Faculty of Economics of Bocconi University (Milan, Italy), where the prestigious Laboratory for Effective Anti-Poverty Policies, directed by economist Eliana La Ferrara, is located. For his part, José Manuel Cuevas begins to work in the Spanish media site El Orden Mundial, which focuses on international news and foreign policy.
