Rabah Arezki is non-resident fellow at the Navarra Center for International Development. He is the Chief Economist for Middle East and North Africa Region (MNA) at the World Bank. Previously, Arezki was the Chief of the Commodities Unit in the Research Department at the International Monetary Fund. He also was a senior fellow at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, a non-resident fellow at the Brookings Institution, and an external research associate at the University of Oxford.

He has written on natural resources, economic development, institutions, education and macro-finance. He has published widely in academic and other journals, including the Economic Journal, the Journal of International Economics, the Journal of Development Economics, the European Economic Review, and the American Journal of Agricultural Economics. He has also been cited in leading newspapers, including The Economist, Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal. He has co-edited two books entitled Beyond the Curse: Policies to Harness the Power of Natural Resources and Commodity Price Volatility and Inclusive Growth in Low-Income Countries both published by the International Monetary Fund. He is currently co-editing a special issue of the Journal of International Money and Finance entitled Understanding International Commodity Price Fluctuations.
