Navarra Center for International Development researcher Tijan L. Bah was part of the organising committee of the University of Gambia First Annual International Conference, where he also presented his research on the impact of COVID-19 on the labour market in The Gambia.

This conference was organised with the aim of generating a dialogue between academics, researchers and experts from government, NGOs and the private sector on issues related to the impact and recovery of COVID-19 in The Gambia. It was therefore not only about sharing research among academics and academia, but also about discussing these experiences with policy makers.

The event, held on 27-28 October, featured three keynote speakers: the Gambian Ministry of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment, Hon. Seedy Keita, the World Bank's Economist for The Gambia, Mehwish Ashraf, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Yusupha Touray, and the Director of Health Services, Ministry of Health, Dr. Mustapha Biitaye.

In particular, Tijan Bah was among the presenters in the conference. The NCID researcher presented his research "The impact of COVID-19 on labour market outcomes: evidence from a high frequency telephone survey in The Gambia".
