Navarra Center for International Development (NCID) Director Luis Ravina travelled to the United States between the 12th and 15th of November to visit some NCID colleagues and partners, in order to share experiences and strengthen relationships for future collaborations.

First, in Boston, Dr. Ravina met with Ignacio Campomanes, Resident Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), where he is doing his postdoctoral studies. He also met with Miguel Ãngel Santos, Senior Research Fellow at the Harvard Center for International Development who visited the NCID in October to present his paper Place-specific Determinants of Income Gaps: New Sub-National Evidence from Chiapas, Mexico.

Being in Harvard, Luis Ravina gave a session at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (HKS), organized by Spain Caucus, a forum of the HKS that focuses on Spanish cultural, political and economic affairs. The session was about the NCID and research in development issues in Spain. And in another Spanish meeting, he met with Julio Contreras, Delegate of the Polytechnic University of Madrid in Boston, focusing their discussion in urbanism, including the NCID Research Workshop on Urbanism Issues in Development Countries, organized in Pamplona on November 9th.

For his last day at the United States, Dr. Ravina went in Washington D.C., where he met Daniel FitzGerald Runde, Senior Vice President of the Center for Strategic Studies; Carlos Reyes, Principal at the International Finance Corporation who visited the NCID in September to give his session titled Outlining the opportunity for private sector investment in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Jordi Renart i Vila, of the World Food Programme of the United Nations.
