The Navarra Center for International Development (NCID) begins the 2019-2020 course with two new members that will work as Resident Fellows.

On the one hand, Colombian Jaime Millán (l), who was a visiting professor at the Carlos III University of Madrid and who is also Associate Consultant at Econometría S.A. (Colombia). He has a Master and a Ph.D. from the University College London and his research focuses are applied microeconomics, economic development, and public policies.

Jaime has been a usual assistant at the Research Workshop in Madrid, invited by Director Luis Ravina and Alex Armand, which he met through the Job Market. He finally joined the NCID because he knew there was a professional connection. “The center does what I do and I do what the center does, so there’s a perfect match,” he said. At the NCID, he will research initially on microfinance in Latin America, household welfare, impact evaluation of public policies, and violence.

On the other hand, is joining Spanish Ignacio Campomanes (r), last course Post-Doctoral Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research, in Boston, USA. Also with Law studies, he has a Master and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota, and his areas of study include political economy, public economics, macroeconomics, and development economics.

He got in touch with the NCID initially through the Job Market, and then also through contacts with NCID Director and Fellows and his assistance at the Research Workshop. “My work at the center will focus on political economy, inequality, tax policy, and development assistance," said Ignacio, who recently arrived from the USA looking to work in the Spanish university.
