The paper was presented by Javier Gardeázabal from the University of the Basque Country. It is a joint work with Todd Sandler – University of Texas at Dallas. The research focused on the role that Mobile/Fixed INTERPOL Network Database (MIND/FIND) has played in the War on Terror. MIND/FIND allows countries to systematically screen people and documents at border crossings against INTERPOL databases.

Arinze Nwokolo a doctoral student at the Univeristy of Navarrra presented yesterday his paper titled Does Political Instability affect Economic Growth and Financial Development? at a Workshop of the NCID. “It is important to realise that previous studies on this topic have not been conclusive!”, Arinze said emphatically. “This is not surprising” he added, “because it is not clear whether political violence and political instability indicators are correlated with economic development.”

The researcher Luis Alberiko Gil-Alaña of the Navarra Center for International Development spent last week –November 18-22 – at Strathmore Business School in Nairobi, Kenya. “They have launched a Financial Econometrics course, and Robert Mudida, that is the person in charge of this course, proposed me to give some lectures -about 10 hours- on the main topics on this issue,” explained Luis Alberiko.
