The local office of the Development Program of the United Nations, through ODS TV, has awarded the research proposal of the NCID-CINDERE team against violence in Guatemala. The project consists of evaluating the impact of mass media on indicators of violence. This is a problem of great relevance, since Guatemala has the 13th highest rate of killings in the world with 27.3 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants. Worse still is the situation in Guatemala City, which has a figure of 54.49 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants.

The Navarra Center for International Development, Luis Ravina, was invited to deliver the inaugural speech for the 2019 academic year at the Universidad del Istmo in Guatemala.
