The 2016 Global Go To Think Tank Report of the University of Pennsylvania has ranked the Navarra Center for International Development (NCID) as one of the best think tanks in the world for the second consecutive year.

The ranking, which has been put together by the Think Tanks and Civil Society Program (TTCSP) of the Lauder Institute, places the center in the 58th position out of the 90 included in the prestigious list of university-affiliated think tanks. The NCID, part of the Institute of Culture and Society (ICS) at the University of Navarra, is the only Spanish center listed in this category.

This is the second time the NCID has a position in this renowned international ranking, placing ahead of other university-affiliated think tanks from prestigious universities such as Princeton (USA), Harvard (USA), Oxford (United Kingdom), or the MIT (USA).

The top-ranked centers of the category have been Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and the Center for International Development, first and second, respectively, and the IDEAS/Public Policy Group of the London School of Economics and Political Science which has been ranked third.

The 2016 edition of the University of Pennsylvania’s Global Go To Think Tank Report marks the 10th anniversary of the report and includes 6,846 think tanks. All of them catalogued in the TTCSP’s Global Think Tank Database were contacted and encouraged to participate. Additionally, over 4,750 journalists, policymakers, public and private donors, and functional and regional area specialists participated. The report classifies think tanks into seven categories, which range from government-affiliated or politically-affiliated, to corporate, university, or independent think tanks.

The ranking comes at an exciting time for the NCID, which has recently started three new projects in Benin, Bolivia and India. Together with other active projects, they are helping the center and the research community contribute knowledge on the three regions in which our work in development is focused: Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Asia.
